Understanding Design Unification
Part 1.
1. What is Core5Plus?
Core5Plus is a design method for organizing space.
There are four components for each space:
a. Enclosure_is the outside area that determines the outer limits of the space
b. Functional areas_or the activity areas of the space
c. Paths_are the walking areas of the space
d. Wall treatments_are the items that are hanging or attached or covering the walls
A priority method gives a value to each item in a space component areas
a.Focal point items_the center of attention or an essential item
b. Main item_the principal item in the grouping
c. Core three item_supportive item to the main item
d. Core four item_supportive item to the main item
e. Impact item_provides the wow factor or the second focal point or a fascinating item
2. Core5Plus Design Unification
a. Understanding design unification is essential
b. Unification is central to design decisions:
c. Identify feasible concepts
d. Principles:
- Architectural principles
- Design principles
e. Elements
f. Design defines attainable objectives:
- Space direction
- Economics
g. Determined required features
h. Unification adds value to the design process
i. Concentrate on key issues:
- Space components
- Enclosure_the building shell
- Functional areas
- Paths
- Walls treatments
j. Priority method for choosing items for the space
3. The Terms of Design
a. Users:
- Types of individuals
- Age groups
b. Items:
- Enclosure items
- Functional items
c. Economics:
- User values
- Market value
- Project value
d. Location placement
- Type of residence
- Residential setting
- Residential location
- Floor level
- Item placement
e. Style
f. Considerations
- Form and function considerations
- Economic considerations
- Time considerations
- Special considerations
g. Stimulation stability
4. How each of the Space Components Influences the project Unification
a. Enclosure influence
b. Functional areas (1-5 areas)
c. Paths
d. Wall treatments
e. Adjacent interior spaces
f. Exterior spaces
5. 4 generic directions for Interior Design using the Terms of Design
a. Generic strategies for design:
- Fine-tune
- Create superior
- Challenge existing
- Limited minimal
b. Implications of the terms of design in internecine directions
c. Defined the differences in strategy
6. Unification Mapping or Charting
Interior Design mapping is a tool for understanding the structure of a given space
It will help to analyze and view different information within the space
- Enclosure mapping
- Functional area mapping
Part 2. Software
The software was written in WordPress but was extremely slow to use and print out.
